Montgomery County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society: Woodland Cemetery Historical Tour
July 27 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Join the Montgomery County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society and Woodland Cemetery and Arboretum on Saturday, July 27, 2024, for the third of four cemetery tours that will be hosted throughout the year.
These tours are designed for the purpose of telling the stories of the people who built and contributed to Dayton and Montgomery County. Who were they and what did they do?
Woodland Cemetery is the second oldest cemetery we’ll visit this year, and while it is the final resting place of Patterson, Kettering, and the Wright Brothers, we’re going to visit a number of people who were active but not as well-known to the area.
This tour, hosted by the MCC-OGS, will take visitors around the cemetery and stop at specific gravesites to highlight that person and/or family to tell the story of what they did during their lifetime that contributed to making Dayton and Montgomery County the great place that it is today.
-Pioneer blacksmiths
-Pioneer doctors
-Suffragettes
-Prominent businessmen
-Church clergy
-Dayton’s original mayors and councilmen
