Hear tales of Dayton Slim\, Maggie Doane\, Christine Kett\, Maurice DesJardins and discover who killed Bessy Little. This is a walking tour with a moderate walk. We recommend wearing sensible walking shoes. You are encouraged to bring flashlights but please no headlights. \nThe HMM&M tours will depart at 7pm and 8pm.  There will be two groups that depart at 7 and 8pm. DESCRIPTION:Fall Bird Walk will be held October 7th at 9am at Woodland Cemetery and Arboretum. Your tour guide\, Jason Antonick\, will take you on a slow-paced walk through the grounds and identify different bird species. Whether you are looking for a Carolina Wren\, Black and White Warbler or a beautiful Cardinal\, bring your binoculars\, take a stroll and search our beautiful grounds. \nYour guide\, Jason Antonick\, started birding over 40 years ago as a kid taking Summer Lore classes at the Dayton Museum of Natural History (today known as the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery). One of his first programs was a birding class at Englewood MetroPark. “I still remember the excitement at the age of 6 years old when a giant Great Blue Heron flew 50 feet overhead! I was hooked\, and have been an active birder ever since.” \nWoodland Cemetery and Arboretum is located at 118 Woodland Avenue off of Brown Street near University of Dayton campus. SUMMARY:Woodland Historic Tour
DESCRIPTION:Founded in 1841\, Woodland is one of the oldest rural cemeteries in the United States. Visit the final resting place of the Wright Brothers\, Paul Laurence Dunbar\, Erma Bombeck\, James Ritty\, the Stanley Family\, the Mead Family\, George Newcom and many other famous and infamous Daytonians. \nMeet at the Eichelberger Plaza at the main gates of the cemetery. Parking is available outside the gates. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a water bottle if needed. Tours will launch rain or shine\, except in the event of thunder or lightning. \nAll tours require a reservation and there is a suggested $5 donation.
