DESCRIPTION:Fall Bird Walk will be held October 12th at 9am at Woodland Cemetery and Arboretum. Your tour guide\, Jason Antonick\, will take you on a slow-paced walk through the grounds and identify different bird species. Whether you are looking for a Carolina Wren\, Black and White Warbler or a beautiful Cardinal\, bring your binoculars\, take a stroll and search our beautiful grounds. \nYour guide\, Jason Antonick\, started birding over 40 years ago as a kid taking Summer Lore classes at the Dayton Museum of Natural History (today known as the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery). One of his first programs was a birding class at Englewood MetroPark.  Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear a good pair of walking shoes. Do not forget your camera or binoculars! \nAll tours require a reservation and there is a suggested $5 donation. All donations support the Woodland Arboretum Foundation which focuses on the restoration\, preservation\, horticultural and educational projects needed to keep Woodland a cultural resource for Dayton and Ohio. And was the “Cincinnati Ripper” living in Dayton? These stories and more are told in this walk to the grave sites of a victim or perpetrator of a crime. Please note that the tour relates the actual accounts of murders that took place in Dayton. Graphic details are given and may not be appropriate for all audiences. \nThis 2-hour tour may be deemed strenuous by some and is not recommended for children or elderly patrons or those who may have trouble walking long distances through hilly and uneven grassy areas. \nMeet at the Eichelberger Plaza at the main gates of the cemetery. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a water bottle if needed. Tours will launch rain or shine\, except in the event of thunder or lightning. \nAll tours require a reservation and there is a suggested $5 donation. All donations support the Woodland Arboretum Foundation which focuses on the restoration\, preservation\, horticultural and educational projects needed to keep Woodland a cultural resource for Dayton and Ohio.

SUMMARY:Fall Migration Bird Walk
DESCRIPTION:A great time of year to see our year-round residents\, and breeding birds like Great-crested Flycatcher. Some migrating birds have molted into their more cryptic fall plumage\, which makes identification a fun challenge! We might see a variety of warblers\, vireos\, and others. Bring your binoculars and dress for the weather. The walk is slow-paced\, and mostly stays on the road surface\, but sometimes does venture “off-trail” into the grass. All ages welcome. The tour will meet at the Eichelberger Plaza at the main gates of the cemetery. \nYour nature guide will be Amanda Lawson\, an Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist. \nAll tours require a reservation and there is a suggested $5 donation.
